Ableton Live 9 Intro Review Part III: The Unnatural Selection Package

In my part III review I will cover the package Unnatural Selection, again in this package there is the selection of samples, clips and two live sets. Not as much content as LoopMasters MixTape but there is a different vibe to this package. Again the live sets and clips are grouped under Construction Kits, this time there are only two live sets and the rest of the contents of the Construction Kits folder are 4 or 5 clips organized by folder under varying names. The live sets give you the scene arrangement along with the clips, while the rest of the clips are left for you to determine their scene arrangement.

The content in Unnatural Selection is a diverse collection of rhythmic & melodic looped sounds, noise, and vocals. I had a lot of fun dragging these clips into a session with my Microbrute running a sequence, and my Moog ready to tap out a bass line. The live sets included in the Construction Kits are varied scene by scene much more than LoopMasters MixTape, each scene is unique theme, and I found some interesting combinations by combining random clips from different scenes.

The samples are all the clips from the Construction Kits organized by type; bass, beats, keys etc. Mix and match as you please. I prefer to get minimalistic and will find a beat, bass or synth like I like, then use effects and automation to create my variety.

Again I've linked a quick session I recorded using the contents of Unnatural Selection so you can hear some of sounds, get an idea of what their is to offer and hopefully make a great decision about what to spend your hard earned money on.
